The Brazilian pair of Alison and Bruno Schmidt have earned the right to play for a second-straight FIVB World Tour title with a 2-0 sweep of their Canadian opponents in Sunday’s semi-finals.

Alison/Bruno Schmidt are both the defending World Tour and Olympic champions and have further solidified themselves with an unblemished run through to this year’s Toronto Finals gold medal matchup.

Alison and Bruno Schmidt have had a fairly balanced attack throughout the tournament so far, and they maintained that formula on Sunday to push through again – Alison had 10 kills and Bruno 9.

For the Canadians, it was the veteran Chaim Schalk who carried the scoring load with 15 of the pair’s 22 kills.

Alison came up big in the first set with 6 blocks, including 2 in the first 5 points to set the tone early, and then 3 in the last 4 points to put the set away.

The championship match will be played on Sunday at 3PM Toronto time (Canadian Eastern Time, GMT -5).
