Stephanie Samedy Earns AVCA Player of the Week Honors
After leading Minnesota to a pair of victories to open Big Ten action, sophomore Stephany Samedy earned her first AVCA Player of the Week nod. It is ninth national player of the week award in Golden Gopher volleyball history and the first since Sarah Wilhite received recognition on Nov. 29, 2016.
Makenzie Kuchmaner Sets NC State Digs Record
With a 32-dig performance in the team’s victory over Notre Dame Sunday afternoon, redshirt junior Makenzie Kuchmaner set the NC State volleyball rally-scoring era record for digs in a 4-set match. It is also the highest single-match total for any ACC player so far this season.
Concordia-St. Paul Takes Over #1 Spot in AVCA Division II Poll
Concordia-St. Paul returned to the top spot in this week’s AVCA Division II Poll after being chosen No. 1 in the preseason. The Golden Bears, who are 13-2 on the season, collected 42 first place votes and 1,191 points.
Giorgia Civita Joins 1,000-Dig Club for Wichita State
Wichita State redshirt sophomore Giorgia Civita surpassed the 1,000-career digs threshold with 29 digs in Sunday’s sweep of Memphis. She is the 11th player to reach the milestone in Shocker volleyball history.
