Florida State, Hawaii Upset #1 UCLA, #2 Pepperdine at NCAA Beach

Only twice in NCAA beach volleyball championship history has there been an upset where the seed difference was more than 1. The other: last year, where #4 Florida State beat #2 UCLA in the semi-finals of the elimination bracket. The other small handful of upsets have all been 1-seed differences.

BYU, UCLA Ready to Play Their Best Ball in Fourth Meeting of Season

Thursday’s night cap is a MPSF vs. MPSF matchup, putting champion BYU and league runner-up UCLA on opposite sides of the net for the fourth time in 2018. The Cougars lead the series 2-1 after wins on March 3 (3-0) and April 21 (3-1) and a 3-0 loss on April 7.

ESPN Networks to Broadcast NCAA Beach Championships Beginning Friday

In an upgrade from the 2017 coverage, all 14 matches will be broadcast live, an improvement over a three-hour timeslot on day one and two. The broadcasts also will be coming on the ESPN family of networks, vs. truTV, which aired the preliminary matches and TBS which showed the championship match.
