To be nominated, players must be seniors in high school and play under a coach who is a member of the AVCA. The 24 players on the First Team will be invited to play at the 2016 AVCA All-American Game that will be held on December 16th in Columbus, Ohio. The event is part of the AVCA’s annual convention and coincides with the women’s NCAA Division I Championships that are held the same week.

34 out of 50 states are represented on the list. The top earners of honors among them are Texas with 25 recognized players (3 on the Firs Team) and California with 13 recognized players (2 on the First Team). Other state’s well-represented on the list were Kansas with 3 players on the First Team (out of 4 total recognized) and Florida with 6 overall and 3 on the First Team.

Most (though not all) of the players on list have already made their college commitments. Among the biggest signers were traditional powers like Wisconsin (4 All-Americans, 2 First Team); Nebraska (4 All-Americans, 2 First Team), and Texas (2 All-Americans, 2 First Team). But there are a few other programs that are either on the rise (Illinois – 5 All-Americans, 0 First Team; TCU 2 All-Americans, 2 First Team) or that are have had big wins in the past few weeks (Pitt 2 All-American, 1 First Team; Maryland 4 All-Americans, 1 First Team) that cashed in big on this class as well.

All-Americans who have not yet committed:

  • Charley Andrew, Harper Creek HS, Michigan (Honorable Mention)
  • Lily Dempsey, Dorman High School, South Carolina (Honorable Mention)
  • Hannah Froeschl, Clear Creek High School, Texas (Honorable Mention)
  • Samantha Gioiosa, Bogota High School, New Jersey (Honorable Mention)
  • Jackie Stanko, North Star High School, Pennsylvania (Honorable Mention)
