Marquette def. DePaul 3-0 (25-14, 27-25, 25-14)

Notables

  • The Golden Eagles won their fourth straight match, all via sweep, to stay atop the Big East standings.
  • Marquette led the stat sheet, outdoing DePaul in hitting efficiency (.365 to .186), kills (48-36), aces (5-1) and blocks (4-1).
  • Marquette ended the match with a .464 hitting effort in a 25-14 win.
  • Jenna Rosenthal downed a match-high 11 kills on a .450 hitting effort and added three blocks. Allie Barber added 10 putaways.
  • Donna Brown was tops for DePaul with 11 kills on a match-high .556 hitting effort (11-1-18).
  • Four different players notched kills and Hope Werch served up an ace in a 5-0 which made it 11-5 Marquette in Set 3. Another Werch ace came in a 4-0 run which put the Eagles up 23-12. A stuff by Rosenthal and Ellie Koontz and a putdown by Elizabeth Orf sewed up the match.

Georgetown def. Xavier 3-0 (25-22, 27-25, 25-23)

Notables

  • Georgetown outhit Xavier .190 to .122 and outdid the Musketeers in kills (44-35) and aces (8-3), while trailing its foes in blocks (10-7).
  • Symone Speech (12) and Iva Vujosevic (11) were the lone players with double-digit kills in the match, leading the way for the Hoyas. Speech hit at a team-best .375 clip and put up a team-high six blocks, while Vujosevic rounded out a double-double with 13 digs.
  • Moriah Hopkins (9), Audrey Adams (8) and Laura Grossman (7) were tops for the Musketeers. Adams hit at a .412 clip, while Jayda Carlton notched a match-high seven blocks.
  • Georgetown won Set 2 on its fourth set-point try at 27-25 on back-to-back kills by Riley Wertzberger.
  • In Set 3, Xavier boasted a 23-22 lead, before Georgetown rattled off three straight points with a hitting error and two Speech kills to steal away the win and the match.

Butler def. Villanova 3-1 (25-27, 25-17, 25-20, 25-21)

Notables

  • Butler was better than the Wildcats in every statistical category: kills (61-50), hitting efficiency (.302 to .186), aces (12-6) and blocks (10-4).
  • Four Bulldogs managed double-digit kills, led by Brooke Gregory (15). Natalie Ravenell (13), Rachel Klitzing (12) and Bri Lilly (10) followed. Lilly and Melody Davidson put up five blocks apiece.
  • Three Wildcats downed 10 or more kills, led by Clare Delaplane‘s match-high 16. Amanda Pedersen-Henry (11) and Sanaa Barnes (10) were right behind.
  • Butler had the first set point try of the night at 24-23 in Set 1, but Villanova stole away the win with four of the next five points.
  • The Bulldogs were the first to the punch in the next three sets as well, but hung on for the victories.
