University of Tennessee at Martin has added a third transfer for the 2017 season in Brooke Gyori. A 5’4″ defensive specialist, Gyori will have two years left of eligibility as she comes in with a junior classification for the fall of 2017.

Gyori attended Owens Community College in the state of Ohio over the last two seasons. She was listed as an All-American on a team that went 75-12 over the course of two years. That mark included a third place national finish at the 2016 NJCAA Tournament in her final season in which she led the team with 736 digs. Her dig per set mark (4.91) ranked ninth in the country as she racked up 20 or more digs 12 times with a season-best 32 on October 7th. She added 942 digs (5.81 per set) her freshman year before teams finally decided to avoid hitting her the ball as much, but even with less dig totals in year two, her serve remained a weapon. Gyori totaled 148 aces in two years, including matches with seven in just three sets on multiple occasions – even one match with eight.

“Brooke is consistent in her ball control ability, is very instinctive and is quick to the ball defensively,” UT Martin head coach Jaclynn Yocum said in the UT Martin release. “She has a calm confidence on the court and thrives in high-pressure situations. Brooke plays at an exceptionally high level and will compete with the best talent out there.”

Gyori adds to the recruiting class for UT Martin that features two other transfers. Earlier, UT Martin also added Bailey Darnall from Indian Hills Community College in addition to Megan Fair out of Catawba Valley Community College.
