CEV Introduces “Volleyball At School” Project to Grow the Game

The CEV has put together a plan to help introduce the game of volleyball to children with the “Volleyball at School” project, which is “designed to boost the growth ofvolleyball at the grassroots level across the whole of Europe.”

A meeting of some of the top experts in developing volleyball in countries across Europe and CEV President Aleksandar Boricic‘s participation in a panel at the EU Sports Conference on innovation in sports highlighted the efforts behind the project.

Sophia Papadopoulou, a member of the European Coaches Commission, of Greece, Nicolas Sauerbrey of France and Kristof De Loose of Belgium collaborated with CEV Development Manager Vuk Karanovic to offer “guidelines for physical education teachers including the best and most effective way” to introduce the sport to children.

Boricic talked about the project at the annual EU Sports Conference on June 13. Boricic’s speech was entitled “Grassroots sport as a tool for integration and a bridge between tradition and innovation.”

Boricic spoke alongside Head of European Public Policy – Premier League Mathieu Moreuil, Deputy Secretary General of the Bulgarian Football Union Pavel Kolev, Harry van Dorenmalen of Sport Innovtor of the Netherlands and Development Consultatn at the Danish Foundation for Sports and Culture Olivier Vanges

According to its website, the CEV aims to not only teach the sport of volleyball to younger generations, but also to “modernize the sport and make sure it evolves with the times and appeals to younger audiences.”
