Teams across the country are aiming to sell tickets, especially to early season matches before students are back on campus or when teams don’t have traditional conference rivalries to draw fans.

Colorado State volleyball is aiming to help fans conquer two cravings at once, for fast food and for good volleyball, teaming up with McDonalds locations in the Fort Collins or Windsor area to give away tickets to its Aug. 24 match vs. Illinois. No purchase is necessary to receive the “Bring the Noise versus Illinois” tickets.

The McDonald’s promotion, which includes 300 tickets, is part of the Fort Collins Community  Challenge to sell out Moby Arena for the match.

New Belgium Brewing Company also has signed on as have other businesses, purchasing group tickets and provided them to their employees, patrons, etc.

Several season ticket holders and donors also were asked to purchase additional tickets to the match, which will in turn be provided to the local Boys and Girls Club.

For the fifth straight year, the Rams were picked to win the Mountain West by the league’s coaches. The team posted a 29-4 record and 17-1 effort in conference play, advancing to the NCAA Second Round.

Four CSU players were among the MWC Preseason All-League team, including Player of the Year Katie Oleksak, who shared her thoughts on the team’s training camp activities earlier this week.

Colorado State opens the 2018 season at home, welcoming Illinois and UNC Wilmington to Fort Collins on Aug. 24. The Illini went 23-11 last year, including a 12-8 effort in Big Ten play and a Sweet 16 appearance.

Illinois setter Jordyn Poulter hails from Aurora, Colorado, 71 miles south of Fort Collins, while senior middle blocker Blayke Hranicka is also from the Denver area. Poulter was named Preseason All-Big Ten alongside senior middle blocker Ali Bastianelli, while the Illini were picked to finish fifth in the league.

Five members of the Colorado State squad are in-state students: Ellie Gubser (Colorado Springs), Jenna Heinemeyer (Parker), Kirstie Hillyer (Bayfield), Maddi Foutz (Bayfield) and Jessica Jackson (Denver).
