THE HAGUE, Netherlands – Five matches went the distance with the victor in each rebounding after dropping the opening set.
Outlasting the competition were: Germany’s Sandra Ittlinger/Kim Behrens, Poland’s Kinga Kolosinska/Katarzyna Kociolek, Czech duo Kristyna Kolocova/Michala Kvapilova, Japan’s Megumi Murakami/Miki Ishii and hometown side Joy Stubbe/Marleen Ramond-van Iersel of the Netherlands.

Also winning their opening pool play matches were three American pairs – Brooke Sweat/Summer Ross, April Ross/Alix Klineman and Kelly Claes and Sara Hughes – and three Brazilian duos – Maria Antonelli/Carolina Solberg Salgado, Agatha Bednarczuk/Eduarda “Duda” Santos Lisboa and Elize Secomandi Maia/Taiana Lima.
Maria Antonelli/Carol and Ross/Klineman are the only two teams who advanced through qualifying to win their opening round main draw tilts.
