Shainah was born in Ottawa, Canada and is 22 years old. After high school, she moved to the USA to play college ball for the University of Florida, with whom she was named a 2017 AVCA All-America Second Teamer and a 2017 VolleyMob All-American Honorable Mention player. She has played for Canada’s youth national teams, and since 2015 has been a frequent member of its adult roster, having played in competitions like the Pan American Cup and the 2016 FIVB Grand Prix. Here is what she had to say after the signing:
Every day, when I step on the volleyball court, my goal is to become better as a player. I try to learn as much as I can to be the best athlete I can be. Everything else will work itself out.
Maritza recently won its 4th ever Bulgarian Cup, and is currently focusing in its first ever participation in the final rounds of the CEV Champions League.
