Canadian highflyer youngster Sharone Vernon-Evans has just hit the first road block of his young career. During a match of PlusLiga’s 21st round against Kielce, he suffered an injury to his left leg. Exams later showed that he had suffered a broken tibia, for which he underwent surgery. The Onico Warszawa 19-year-old will now face a long recovery ahead of him (Siatka.org):

Sharone feels very well, has already undergone the first rehabilitation treatments, and on Thursday will be discharged home. We expect his return to the courts in 4 to 6 months.” – Mateusz Dawidziuk , Onico’s phyisician

Vernon is signed to a two year contract with OnicoHe has recently debuted for the Canadian Senior National Team straight out of high school, before having played a single match as a professional. In 2017, he made headlines when he recorded the second-highest spike-hit height in the history of the sport. The touch height was recorded at the National Training Center in Gatinearu, Canada with a 12’6.5″ (382 cm) touch.

Volleyball fans around the world received a gift when the 6’9 Vernon, who initially wanted to play basketball,  switched to volleyball after his school’s basketball team folded. They will now have to wait a little until he is fully recovered to once again see him jumping out of the building in the volleyball courts.
