Are More Indoor Beach Tournaments Coming?

Could more indoor beach tournaments be on the horizon?

Austrian Clemens Doppler, who was a member of his country’s 2008 and 2012 Olympic teams, thinks that would be a great way to break up the seven months of preparation the sport currently boasts.

Doppler competes on the FIVB World Tour with Alexander Horst. The duo ranks 24th in the world and advanced to the second round of the Main Draw of the FIVB Moscow Three-Star May 30 to June 4 after earning a bye.

He wonders why we do not currently utilize the winter months for competitions?

The idea is not a completely foreign one as the current FIVB World Tour stop in The Hague is being played indoors.  A new beach facility was just introduced in Slovenia, and several others exist around the world.
