2018-2019 Italian SuperLega – Round 2

The best scorer in Italy last season is not in the lineup for Andrea Giani and Revivre Axopower Milano. Nimir Abdel-Aziz is not playing at opposite as Milan takes on Kioene Padova in their second match of the season. The Dutch international is said to be struggling with back pain, but rumors have hypothesized that he may be suffering from a hernia.

This would be a huge blow to Milan as Abdel-Aziz scored at a rate of 5.70 points per set last season, the highest rate in all of  the Italian SuperLega. He was on pace to set a scoring record for points scored until he went down with an abdominal injury. He had a slow start after the FIVB World Championships, getting held to just 6 points in an opening day loss to Ravenna.

Milan will have to replace their expected point production from Abdel-Aziz on the shoulders of Stephen Maar of Canada and Alessandro Tondo.  Padova is also looking for their first win of the season after getting swept by Lube Civtanova in the first weekend.
