Finnish professional volleyball player Konstantin Shumov has been signed to a new club team in France, Rennes Volley 35. According to Ouest France, Rennes Volley 35 in the French Pro B League decided to sign him outside of the free transfer period on a medical waiver.
Originally born in Moscow, Soviet Union, Shumov has played professionally since 2004 where he was named rookie of the year at his local club SM-Ligga. In 2006 he started for the Finish national team in the European Championship against Hungary and got picked up internationally to play around different clubs around Europe professionally until he recently signed with Rennes Volley 35.
Before signing with Rennes Volley 35 , Shumov played for Hurricane Lomia in Finland during the 2015-2016 season and was in Italy with Lube Macerata from 2014-2015.
Rennes Volley 35 is currently ranked #3 out of 11 teams in the Men’s French Division 2 regular season stats and just recently lost to Cambrai VEC (ranked #4) on April 1, 2017 in 3 games to 2. Rennes Volley 35 hasn’t been to the French Super Cup since 2013 where they placed 2nd in the post-season tournament for the first time in club history.
Rennes Volley 35 will be participating in the B League playoff this season starting on April 7, 2017 with hopes of playing in the finals in Paris on May 6, 2017.
