Lewis’ Ryan Coenen Named AVCA DI-II Player Of The Week

Lewis found their way to a three-set sweep over USC this past week, helping Ryan Coenen to the AVCA DI-II Player of the Week honor for his efforts in the game.

In the match, Coenen posted 6.67 kills per set on a .621 hitting clip that included a season-best 20 kills. Additionally, Coenen picked up 2.00 digs, 1.00 blocks and 1.00 aces per set in the match. He finished with 20 kills, 6 digs, 3 blocks and 3 aces for the matches. 10 of Coenen’s 20 kills came in the first set of the match, when the team pushed the boundaries of the game to a 42-40 finish, before easily handling the Trojans in the next two season 25-17 and 25-16.

The Flyers have now picked up 6 straight wins, with four being sweeps after a 0-3 start on the year. Lewis is more than halfway through a 10 match home stint with much of the season turning out in Romeoville, Illinois.

Additionally, Coenen was named as an honorable mention for VolleyMob this week and MIVA Offensive Player of the Week.

Coenen is the 16 player in Lewis history to garner the honor with Mitch Perinar picking up the award on April 11, 2017.
