Sportal.bg has announced that Bulgarian national teamer Martin Atasanov will be returning to Germany’s VfB Friedrichshafen soon. The player had left the club in October due to a shoulder injury and spent the last 4 months in Bulgaria and Turkey recovering. In that meantime, Bulgarian club Dobrudja 07 lobbied strongly to sign the national teamer, or at least have him loaned from the German club, to no avail.

The 21-year-old, who had his spiking height measured at almost 12 feet, will travel to Germany as soon as he is fully recovered. He will be joining USA’s Scott Kevorken in the club (UC Irvine class of 2013).

VfB Friedrichshafen is one of Bundesliga’s most prominent teams. It won the 2006-07 CEV Champions League title. It is also the owner of 13 Bundesliga titles. In the current season, the team is well on its way to contend for another trophy, as it leads the standings with an 8- record. In 2018 CEV Champions League play, it won both of its games so far and currently leads Group B.
