Penn State Supplies “Excuse Letter” for Fans Coming to Sweet 16 Match

Fans across the country may have been less than thrilled with some of the early start times for Sweet 16 matches, which begin at noon ET on Friday.

Penn State, which is set for a 2 p.m. start time vs. Missouri at Rec Hall, has tried to find a little humor in their situation and offered fans an “excuse letter” from head coach Russ Rose on the Penn State Volleyball Facebook page.

The team’s status on Wednesday at noon read:

“We know Friday’s 2 p.m. start time is slightly inconvenient, but we want you in Rec Hall! Check out parking and ticket info here: http://gopsu.info/2Az9a0y And if you need an excuse*, use the letter” with the following attached.

The best is the caveat at the end reminding fans that “THis is strictly a promotion and not to be used as an official excuse from work.”

For those who can’t leave work, excuse letter or no excuse letter, all eight matches will be streamed live on ESPN3.com. Four also will air live on ESPNU, including the Penn State/Missouri match.

The full streaming and TV schedule is available here.
