PlusLiga’s Szczecin Signs Superstar Matey Kaziyski

Rumors became true, and PlusLiga’s Szczecin is indeed launching itself into super-team status. After signing Bartosz Kurek, Lukasz Zygadlo, and coach Radostin Stoytchev, it was time to lure Bulgarian superstar Matey Kaziyski away from the high-paying Japanese volleyball waters, and have him commit to the more demanding and competitive Polish league. He accepted the deal.

The 6’7″ tall 33-year-old Kaziyski is very experienced, having won domestic titles in Bulgaria, Russia, Turkey, Japan, and Italy. He has stood at the top of the podium three times in Champions League and four times in Club World Championship play, all  with Diatec Trentino, under the guidance of coach Stoytchev. With his national team, he has won bronze medals at the World and European Championship.

Here are his first words as a member of his new team:

“I think that PlusLiga is a very strong and interesting league, and its best showcase is its amazing fans. I played matches against Polish teams in the Champions League many times, so I experienced this the atmosphere that prevails during these meetings. It really made a big impression on me and I always had the idea of ​​playing here in my mind. I am glad that now such an opportunity has come and I will have the opportunity to appear in the colors of Szczecin.”
