Pomi Casalmaggiore has announced in its official website the signing of former BYU standout Alexa Gray and Italian national teamer Caterina Bosetti to its roster. The 24-year-old Gray, a Canadian national teamer, is transferring out of Italy’s second division Soveratto after leading the league in scoring with a 5.99 points per set average. As a college player, she had a stellar career, tallying 1,848 kills with a .300 hitting percentage and finishing her senior season as an AVCA First Team All-American. Here are her first words as a member of her new team:

“I’m very happy to play for Pomì Casalmaggiore next season. I want to help the team in the offensive game, which is my strong point, and by working at my best in the backcourt. I want to thank President Boselli who believed in me and who gave me the opportunity to play in this great team. I can not wait to work with coach Gaspari. We can do great things this season! I already thank sponsors and fans, I want to see you soon.”

Bosetti, also 24-years-old, has been a staple in Italy’s national team since her youth years, and won a World Cup with the team when she was only 17. Needless to say, she’ll need no introductions to Italian fans. She is coming out of a very serious injury suffered last season. Here are her first words in a Pomi shirt:

“It ‘a re-start after what happened to me, but I am convinced that I will return at my 100%, perhaps better. I feel good and I think I’ll be ready soon. I’m already training and I do not feel any kind of blockage, neither mental nor physically, so I’m sure I’ll come back stronger than before. I thank Casalmaggiore for giving me this chance. The team is totally new and I am convinced that we could do well because when everything is new for everyone, there is a great desire to work and a lot of enthusiasm. Work leads to results. it’s a restart for everyone, I hope this is a fantastic year.”

Pomi Casalmaggiore has made it clear to everyone that it does not intend to repeat its last season’s fate, which almost saw the team, one of Italy’s finest, get relegated from the A1 league. So far this summer, the team has added Daniele Cuttino, Polina Rahimova, Agniezka Kakoleska, Giulia Bertolo, and Valentina Arrigheti to its roster.
