The Mercer beach volleyball team set a program record for wins (10) after sweeping their Atlantic Sun opening doubleheader with Coastal Carolina on Wednesday. The Bears won 3-2, taking courts two, three and five in Match 1, and winning all courts in the nightcap. Mercer has now won four straight matches, all at Bear Beach.

In other action, No. 2 Pepperdine won its ninth straight match, staving off No. 5 Hawai’i for a 3-2 win in Malibu.

No. 6 Long Beach State was a 5-0 winner at Cal State Bakersfield. An 18-21, 21-10, 15-9 win at the No. 1 position gave junior Rachel Nieto her 50th career victory as an individual, making her one of just five players in school history to achieve the feat. Nieto is paired with Nele Barber at the No. 1 spot this season.
