Reigning Champs Assumption Top USA Today Super 25 Preseason Rankings

  0 Wendy Mayer | August 17th, 2018 | High School, News

Assumption High School was crowned as USA Today Super 25 Champion back in December, so it is no surprise that the Rockets from Louisville, Kentucky, are No. 1 in the preseason rankings to kick off the 2018 season.

Marietta, Georgia’s Walton High School, which went 40-1 in 2017, checks in at No. 2, the same spot it ended the year.

Santa Ana, California’s Mater Dei, Prosper High School (Prosper, Texas) and Champlin Park (Champlin Park, Minnesota) round out the top five in the preseason listings.

Mater Dei was eighth in 2017 at 37-6, while Prosper ended the year at No. 11 (46-6). Champlin Park was not among the final 25 in 2017, although the team made the final eight in the Minnesota Class AAA state playoffs.

Twelve teams were left out of the rankings that were listed among the final 2017 Super 25, including then No. 4 Hebron (Carrollton, Texas) and No. 7 Lewis-Palmer (Monument, Colorado).
