After a top-of-the-line week of play, Stanford’s Jaylen Jasper has been named this week’s AVCA Men’s DI-II Player of the week.

On the week, Jasper posted some big numbers against top-15 squads as a team that was not even receiving votes. He recorded 5.11 kills per set on a .365 hitting clip along with 1.78 digs per set, 0.89 aces per set for a total of 6.22 points per set for the week. The Cardinals have struggled this season and their wins over #13 Grand Canyon and #14 Concordia mark the first time this season that Stanford has won two consecutive matches.

Against Grand Canyon, Jasper posted a career-high 27 kills on a .409 hitting percentage while adding 4 aces, 9 digs and 2 blocks in the five-set win. He sparked again in the team’s four-set win over Concordia with 19 kills on a .317 hitting clip while adding another 4 aces to his tally.

Among other awards that Jasper received this week are the MPSF Offensive Player of the Week and VolleyMob’s Player of the Week.

Jasper is the 18th player in Stanford history to earn the AVCA Player of the Week honor, with the last coming on April 5, 2016, when James Shaw took home the honor.
