Country Quota, Qualification Rounds Set Up Espinho Main Draw

One hundred teams (55 men’s and 45 women’s) made their way to Espinho, Portugal for a chance to compete in the FIVB Four Star event this week. After country quota and qualifying matches, the 32-team fields per gender are set.

Eight Teams Move on To AVP New York Open Main Draw

In a stacked qualifying pool, only four teams per gender advanced through Thursday’s matches into the main draw. Seeds 2, 3, 5 and 9 made it through on the women’s side, while No. 1 qualifier Melissa Humana-Paredes/Sarah Pavan were knocked out. On the men’s side, seeds 1, 2, 4 and 6 advanced, including top seed Ty Loomis/Piotr Marciniak.

Pavan/Humana-Paredes Crowned Xiamen Champions, Americans Take Silver
