Day two at the Gstaad Major has ended with the women’s teams concluding pool play while the men finished with their day two matches.
Day one of the FIVB World Tour stop in Gstaad has concluded with a number of women’s teams going undefeated on the day. On the men’s side, there was an upset that took down the 2016 Rio Olympic silver medalists.
The Porec Major featured a number of matches that took place after the sun set for the evening.
After beginning their Porec weekend in the country quota stage of the event, Gustavo “Guto” Carvalhaes and Pedro Solberg become the second men’s team in the 30 season history of the FIVB World Tour to win an international event after beginning play in that round.
Two Brazilians teams will vie for the Porec Five-Star Title alongside veteran Italian side Paolo Nicolai and Danielle Lupo and Russian newcomers Oleg Stoyanoskiy and Artem Yarzutkin.
Eight teams from seven countries collected pool titles at the Porec Major after three days of play.
Based on the current points standings, the FIVB has announced the pre-draw placement for the men’s and women’s teams competing at the Beach World Championships in Vienna next month.
