Texas’ University Interscholastic League (UIL), the governing body for most high school sports in the state, has released their realignments from the 2018-2019 season. Realignments released to this point only show the districting for football, basketball, and volleyball.
There are five classes for volleyball: 6A, 5A, 4A, 3A, and 2A and under.
One state champion will be moving up as 2017 5A champs Prosper jump to 6A. They will join the Plano schools and Allen High in one of the toughest districts in the state.
While schools can, by policy or request, move up the classification table, the enrollment separation is 2190-and-above compete in 6A, while 1150-2189 compete in 5A and so on.

Key changes relating to volleyball:
6A:
– Prosper, the 2017 5A champs and the Max Preps #4 team in 5A, moves from 5A to 6A. They join the Plano schools and Allen High for one of the toughest districts in the state.
– Trimble Tech moved to 6A “by request or policy”
– Richland moves to 6A
5A
– El Paso Eastwood dropping from 6A to 5A (Max Preps 6A #21)
4A
– Canyon, who made 5A 3rd round last year (Max Preps 5A #9), drops to 4A
3A
– Bushland (made 4th round of 4A tournament; Max Preps 4A #4) drops to 3A, becomes contender.
– Denver City (#19 Max Preps 4A) drops to 3A
2A
-Amarillo Highland Park (Max Preps Texas #17; 3A #9) dropped from 3A to 2A
Other notables:
– Coppell (Max Preps Texas #23) moves into 6A champs Hebron’s (Max Preps Texas #1, 6A #1) district (two powerhouses)
– Cy-Fair schools have been split up into different districts
– Oak Ridge (Max Preps Texas #5), The Woodlands (Max Preps Texas #2), College Park (Max Preps Texas #25) district now get Klein schools
