Philippine youngsters Alyssa Valdez and Alyja Santiago put up a huge fight against Indonesia, but at the end, it just wasn’t enough and their team succumbed 3-1. (25/20, 25/20, 24/26, 25/22 – Full Stats Here). Valdez had 14 kills in a very effective 14/24 (58%) hitting displays, 1 ace, and 1 block for 16 points, while Santiago helped with 11 kills, 1 ace, and 1 block for 13 points. Aprilia Santini led the way for the winners with a huge 28 points night. Despite the loss, which puts Philippines in 4th place of Pool A, fans should be happy to see that the team improved throughout the tournament, and started to actually contend during games. Unfortunately, the team closed out Pool Play and will now probably go on to face China at the quarterfinals, which is as close to a a mission impossible that they ‘ll ever be.
Thailand X Hong Kong
Thailand moved 3-0 to after beating Hong Kong, now 0-3, 3-0 (25/6, 25/11, 25/20). Chatchu Moksri led the way with 12 points, while Sau Yeung had 10 points in the losing effort.
South Korea x Vietnam
South Korea moved to 3-1 after beating Vietnam, now 1-3, 3-0 (25/20, 25/15, 25/19). Kim Yeon-kooung led the way with 21 points while Thi Tran had 13 in the losing effort.
China x Kazakhstan
China moved to 4-0 after beating Kazakhstan, now 2-2, 3-0 (25/14, 25/15, 25/11). Xiangyu Gong led the way with 15 points and was helped by Ting Zhu‘s 10, while Kristina Karapetan had 7 points in the losing effort.
Taiwan x India
Taiwan moved to 2-2 after beating India, now 0-4, 3-2 (23/25, 25/21, 18/25, 25/18, 15/13). Liyun Chang led the way with 20 points, while Minimol Abraham had 24 in the losing effort.
