Japan and Korea meet in their first match of the FIVB World Grand Champions Cup that will take place in Japan.

The two squads have faced each other in four World Grand Champions Cup competitions to date, with Japan winning all four. The last time the squads faced off at the competition was in 2009 when Japan made a comeback to win in four. The last time the two teams met was at the 2016 Olympic Games where Korea defeated Japan in four sets.

Japan is the host of the tournament, having made an appearance in all five previous editions. The teams best result at the competition were bronze medal finishes in 2001 and 2013.

This will be the fifth time that Korea will compete in the World Grand Champions Cup and their first since 2009. The squads best performance at the tournament was a fifth place finish in 2009. Korea has not had much luck at the tournament, overall, though. In their 20 matches at the competition over the years, they have only won three for a 15% winning percentage, while no other teams that have competed in the same number of matches have a percentage lower than 40%

You can watch the video streamed below on the FIVB YouTube page, or the matches will be aired on The Olympic Channel.
