The most anticipated match of the week in CEV’s Champions League was incredible. Not even Lube Civitanova players and fans themselves could believe that the team from Macerata managed to come back from a 0-2 deficit to take down Poland’s Skra Belchatow at their own home-court in Lodz in front of almost 10 thousand fans. Team USA’s Micah Christenson, who is slowly turning into one of the leaders of the team, despite his very young age, commented on his team’s impressive feat (Siatka.org):

It is difficult to return to a game when you are down two sets. I am proud of my team because we showed that we are always ready fight and not give up. Our players were amazing. It was a very difficult five-setter duel. We are tired after it, but most of all we are very happy that we managed to turn the tide of this duel in our favor. We fought and showed character. We can not think about the Champions League Final 4 tournament in Kazan yet, because for now we have many great teams ahead of us. If we do not focus on these rivals and beat them, we will not be it the Final Four. We need to think only about each subsequent game.

It is safe to say that Micah is in the best possible environment for his volleyball development. Team USA will greatly benefit from it in the future. Meanwhile, Lube will play Skra again on March 22, this time in Italy, for the second leg of their Round of 12 match-up.
