Women’s French Pro A Division Playoffs Continue Wednesday

The first leg of the French National Championships for Pro A Division was played Saturday with both matches going the distance.  Mulhouse defeated RC Cannes 3-2, while Le Cannet-Rocheville edged Saint-Raphael 3-2.

Top-seeded ASPTT Mulhouse defeated No. 5 seeded RC Cannes 23-25, 25-15, 25-23, 23-25, 15-12 Saturday in Mulhouse. The second leg of the series will take place in Cannes on Wednesday, April 26.

RC Cannes has won 22 league titles, with the last coming in 2014-15. Back in February, Mulhouse also defeated RC Cannes in a five set match.

RC Cannes features the lone American in the semifinal pairings, Taylor Sandbothe, a 2016 graduate of Ohio State.

No. 2 seed Le Cannet, which is on a nine-match win streak, topped defending champion and No. 6 seeded Saint-Raphael 23-25, 25-19, 23-25, 26-24, 15-12 at home. The second leg of the series will take place Wednesday, April 26 in Saint-Raphael.

The teams also faced off during regular season play with Le Cannet winning via sweep back in March.
