Obras Voley San Juan has announced on its official Facebook page that it has repatriated Argentinian Olympian Bruno Lima from France, where he was signed to ccurrent French Champions Chaumont VB.
The 21-year old Lima started playing volleyball on Obra’s youth teams, where he was signed from 2011 to 2014. During this time he was a staple in all of Argentina’s youth national teams, having a 2015 FIVB Men’s u21 WCH silver medal to show for his efforts. He then departed for Bolivar for a season, before returning for Obras for 2015 to 2017. His performance during this time span netted him a call up for the Senior Argentinian national team that finished in 5th place at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. For his play on the Argentinian League and Olympic Games that season, he won the 2016 Best Argentinian Volleyball Player Award from the Argentinian Volleyball Federation.
Here is what he had to say of his return:
I’m back to give the best of myself, as I always do wherever I played. It was a decision that was not easy to make because it’s hard to leave a club in the middle of the season, but this is Obras, and the priority is always to play (Note: He was a reserve player in Chaumont). The decision to return to my country was solely for personal reasons in terms of the future of my career. I say goodbye to Chaumont and all its people with a huge appreciation. Thanks a lot!! Within hours of returning to Argentina I can not thank the great bargain, support and understanding that Chaumont had with me, from its President Bruno Prezi to its manager Jiří Cerha. The team made me feel part of its squad from the first day.
Obras San Juan Volley is currently in 7th place of the Argentinian League’s standings with a 5-6 record.
