Slovakia won another 3-0 rout to improve to 3-0 in Pool B2 match play and 9-1 in total sets.

Japan def. Australia 3-1 (25-18, 17-25, 25-21, 25-22)
In a match that makes the rest of this pool extremely muddy, previously winless Japana beat Australia 3-1 to leave three teams in the pool at 1-2. Japan now rockets to the second spot in the pool with 4 total points.
Shuzo Yamada scored 14 and Issei Otake a dozen for Japan, which played smart, clean volleyball with only 15 errors to Australia’s 31.
Australia, still the only team so far to take a set from Slovakia, got a massive 24 points from Paul Carroll and 23 from Nathan Roberts, narrowly outspiking Japan and winning in blocks (11-4) and serves (3-2). But the errors came back to bite the Aussies, who drop to last in the pool with just two points.
Slovakia def. Portugal 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-19)
A well-rounded Slovakian team rolled to another 3-0 sweep, leading the pool and the whole of Group 2 at 9 points. Slovakia is tied with Slovenia for the group lead at this point.
Peter Mlyanarcik had 11 points and Matej Patak 9 for Slovakia, while Portugal was led by 9 apiece from Marco Ferreira and Alexandre Ferreira.
Slovakia also kept their errors to 18, compared to 30 from Portugal.
