Volleyball Canada is launching a huge project for the National Team’s participation in the 2017 FIVB World Grand Prix with their home pool hosted at Richmond Olympic Oval.

The Canadian team is hosting week 3 of the Grand Prix   participating in Group 2 against Germany, Peru, and the Czech Republic from July 21-23.  This will be the fourth time Canada will be competing in the FIVB World Grand Prix since joining the competition in 2014 ranking 19th, 18th and 19th in previous games.

Once a venue for speed skating at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, the Olympic Oval in Richmond, Greater Vancouver, will be transformed into a volleyball stadium complying with all the requirements needed for the Grand Prix. Not only will this become a stadium, but the Olympic Oval will also be utilized as a training center for Canada’s Women’s National Team beginning in 2017.

The venue will also have international hotels for visiting teams walking distance from courts and training facilities.

Under Head Coach Arnd Ludwig, The Senior Women’s A Canadian National Team Program is under the confederation of NORCECA and has appeared 8 times in the World Championship with the highest placement of 11th.
