“It’s A Pity Kurek Became A Volleyball Player” – NBA’s Marcin Gortat

WCH MVP Bartosz Kurek is a physical specimen, standing at 6’9″ and weighing at 231 lbs. Considering that basketball superstar Kevin Durant is listed by the NBA at 6’9″ and 240lbs, its safe to say that Kurek has the ideal body type of an NBA player. Add to that the fact that his attack height has been measured at 146 inches, a whole 26 inches above NBA’s rim, and it’s clear that his athleticism is not lacking either. From a purely physical standpoint, he is a Kevin Durant with Dwight Howard’s athleticism.

It just so happens that Kurek also played basketball alongside volleyball in his younger years. His former coach has recently stated in an interview that had Kurek followed into the sport, he would’ve at least reached the level of Poland’s most successful current player: the Clippers’ “The Polish Hammer” Marcin Gortat, which is a big compliment, given that Gortat has had a very solid NBA career that has netted him close to 100 million dollars in earnings so far.

Gortat, whose mother was a national teamer volleyball player in Poland, took to twitter to weigh-in on the comparison:

“He would a really good low post player! It is a pity that he became a volleyball player :))”

Gortat later said that he has invited the Polish world champion team to participate in his anual charity basketball event in Poland that pits a team os his choosing against a team representing the Polish army.
