Right side hitter Sharay Barnes is moving closer to home for her final collegiate season, transferring from Kentucky to Seton Hall after earning her degree in May.

The Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, native will have just one year of eligibility left with the Pirates. The 6-2 right side played in 14 matches for the Wildcats in 2016, posting 20 kills, six blocks and five digs.

A role player for the Wildcats from 2014-16, Barnes redshirted her true freshman season in 2013, before playing in eight matches in 2014, 10 in 2015 and 14 in 2016.

An All-SEC Academic Team honoree as a redshirt freshman, Barnes had her best season in 2015, tallying 59 kills and adding 10 blocks and eight digs. She averaged 2.27 kills per set and hit at a .303 clip. The Strath Haven High School alumna posted two double-digit kill efforts that season, with 13 against Xavier and 10 against Northern Illinois.

Barnes joins three other newcomers on the Seton Hall roster, alongside freshmen Catherine Cruz, Amanda Rachwal and Elizabeth Sottung.

The Pirates begin their 2017 campaign at the Oklahoma Invitational on August 25 in Norman, Oklahoma.
