After former coach Riccardo Provvedi was moved to the role of the club’s youth teams manager on a mutual agreement, Monini Spoleto Volley, of Italy’s Serie A2, has announced in its official website the signing of coach Luca Monti. The experienced coach, who last led Revivre Milano’s colors, has also coached Piacenza, Vibo Valentia, Castellana Grotte, and Crema, and worked as an assistant for Monza and Modena. He has won two CEV Challenge Cups, an A1 Italian Cup and an A2 Italian cup in his career.
In addition, the team also announced the signing of Croatian Ivan Raic, a 28-year-old 6’7″ left-handed opposite hitter. With stints in Turkey, France, and Greece, he last played for Gi Group Monza.
Coach Monti started his stay on Monini with the right foot, as he debuted on Jan. 3 with a 3-0 win against Pool Libertas Cantu. Here is what he had to say about the win:
I did a workout and a half with these guys, I really wanted this victory, but I have to give great merit and a big thank you toto Riccardo Provvedi, who really prepared this group
