The team, which is currently ranked 18th in the world, finished its last WCH campaign in 9th place, its best-ever finish at the competition. The team will be headed by Perugia’s middle blocker Tommi Siirilä:

  • Setters: Eemi Tervaportti, Mikko Esko
  • Opposites: Urpo Sivula, Samuli Kaislasalo, Joonas Jokela
  • Middles: Sauli Sinkkonen, Tommi Siirilä, Markus Kaurto, Henrik Porkka
  • Outside Hitters: Elviss Krastins, Sakari Mäkinen, Antti Siltala, Niko Suihkonen, Antti Ronkainen
  • Liberos : Lauri Kerminen, Niklas Breilin

Here is what coach Sammelvu had to say of his team:

“During the World Championship we must be a united, energetic, and hungry team. We need to build the right team spirit that will make our work easier. In the group stage of the tournament, difficult meeting awaits us, but we count on our good performance. This will certainly affect the further development of Finnish volleyball. We want to play as best as we can, to give our fans great joy. Waiting is hard, we want to succeed, and when the World Championships ais over, it would be great to see the Finnish volleyball fans happy.”
