Poland stayed hot, knocking off Italy 3-1 to complete wins over the defending Olympic gold and silver medalists on consecutive days. That puts them atop the Pool A1 standings.

Poland def. Italy 3-1 (21-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-23)
Poland topped 2016 Olympic champs Brazil 3-2 on Friday, and followed it up with an even more convincing 3-1 win over silver medalists Italy. The Italians went up early on a key first-set win, but Poland rattled off three straight sets, including wide margins in the second and third sets, to pick up the win and remain undefeated for the tournament.
Dawid Konarski led with 17 points, just as he did on Friday. Michal Kubiak chipped in 13 of his own, and Batlomiej Lemanski had a dozen for a versatile Polish attack.
Italy’s Lanza Filippo had 14 points, but a tough Polish defense kept every other Italian player in single digits. Poland outblocked Italy 12-t0-6, With Konarski getting 5 by himself.
Brazil def. Iran 3-1 (21-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-22)
Iran went up 1-0 in a shocking first set, but Brazil roared back to win three straight, jumping to second in the pool, just a tick ahead of Italy.
Evandro Guerra blasted a massive 27 points to lead Brazil. He was complemented on offense by 19 from Ricardo Souza and 12 from Mauricio Borges in a stellar Brazilian attack.
Iran did lead in blocks (13-9) and kept their errors down, but couldn’t match Brazil’s incredible spiking clip. Brazil had 64 spikes to Iran’s 49. Amir Ghafour was the top hitter for Iran, earning 19 points.
Sunday, the pool concludes with an Olympic gold medal rematch between Italy and Brazil, plus Poland taking on Iran.
