New year means new teammates and new goals for Poland’s men’s beach volleyball teams as they prepare for the next Olympic games. New team pairings have been set in place as the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour starts.

The 10 year Polish master duo, Grzegorz Fijalek and Mariusz Prudel go their separate ways. They have played together since 2006 in the FIVB U21 World Championships and won one gold medal, 4 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals together while on the World Tour and represented their country in the past two Olympic games.

Prudel’s new partner is 22 years-old Kacper Kujawiak who use to be paired with Michal Bryl, who is now Fijalek’s new partner.  Kujawiak and Bryl have played together for many years and last played together in August 2016 in an FIVB tournament in Long Beach and were ranked 5th overall.

Partners Piotr Kantor and Bartosz Losiak are the only duo that aren’t switching partners. Kantor and Losiak represented Poland in the Rio Olympic Games and won their first gold medal together in 2016 at the Rio de Janerio Grand Slam.

In an interview with swatchmajorseries.com, head coach Grzegorz Klimek stated that it was time to “freshen the teams up” and is training his team for the first World Tour in two weeks in Fort Lauderdale.
