Quiggle/Howard Win Third-Straight to Take Pool E’s Top Spot

USAV Collegiate Beach Championships

Day 2 of the USA Volleyball Collegiate Beach Championships saw pool play wrap up for each of the six women’s pools, A through F. Of the 24 women’s teams, the top two teams in each pool advance as well as the highest four of the third-place pool finishers, based on their point ratios.

After surviving a pair of three-set matches on Day 1, Pepperdine’s No. 2 pair Corinne Quiggle and Brittany Howard (28-3) advanced to the Round of 16 as the top seed of Pool E with a 21-19, 21-14 win over USC’s Jenna Belton and Jo Kremer.

Georgia State’s Chelsea Ross and Delaney Rohan edged South Carolina’s Adrianna Culbert and Katie Smith in a duel to the final point, winning 18-21, 21-18, 18-16 to wrap pool play.

Quiggle/Howard and Ross/Rohan moved on to the Round of 16 with wins on the day.

Ross/Rohan were the CCSA Pair of the Year after going 21-9 at No. 1 for Georgia State. Culbert/Smith went 12-6 at No. 1 for South Carolina. Belton/Kremer went 35-6, primarily at the No. 5 position.

Ross/Rohan 2-1 (5-3 in sets)

Culbert/Smith 1-2 (4-4 in sets)

Belton/Kremer 0-3 (0-6 in sets)
