After asking to be released from Italy’s Siena due to not seeing much playing time, it has been announced by Volleybal.it that Slovakian national teamer Martin Nemec has signed a contract in Indonesia with Palembang Bank Sumsel Babel. He will be joining Colombia’s Cristian Palacios as the international stars of the team.

Indonesia’s ProLiga, which boasts 5 teams, started on January and will last until mid-April. Although it is still a developing league, it has drawn attention from some big name players like former Team USA’s Paul Lotman, who recently returned to the hardwood floor from the beach and signed with Jakarta BNI 46, and Puerto Rico’s Karina Ocasio, who signed with Jakarta 46 VB.

Nemec is a true volleyball nomad, having played in a lot of European leagues. After his start in Slovakia, he enjoyed brief stints in Turkey and France before playing two years with Perugia. In 2008, he won an European League title with Slovakia’s national team, and was the tournament’s highest scorer in 2009, leading Slovakia to a respectable 4th place. His performance culminated with him being awarded Slovakia’s Volleyball Player of the Year Award in 2010. Since then, he played in South Korea, Quatar, Romania, and Italy again, winning the 2015-15 Italian Championship with Diatec Trentino.
