PlusLiga’s super team Szczecin continues to grow, this time by the addition of French national teamer Nicolas Rossard, according to the team’s official website. The 28-year-old libero is set to undergo his first season outside of his home-country. Here is his first words as a member of his new team:
“I think that Italy and Poland are the two best countries to play volleyball, so the transfer to Szczecin is a dream come true for me. When the offer arrived, I did not hesitate for a second. A great project is being created here, in which great players take part, such as Kaziyski and Żygadło. I also heard a lot of positive feedback about the head coach and that’s why I’m happy that I will be able to be part of this whole undertaking. My first international event in the colors of the French national team was the World Championship, which in 2014 took place in Poland. From that tournament I remember, among others, the special atmosphere that prevailed in the stands. I am very happy that now I will be playing in front of such a wonderful audience. I count down the days to meet our fans and I can not wait to start the league.”
Nicolas has enjoyed a lot of success as part of France’s best volleyball generation and with it won gold at the European Championships (2015) and the World League (2017) and silver at this year’s Nations League, at often times backing up Jenia Grebbenikov. Although this is his first year abroad, he will find family support in Poland, as his cousin, Thibault Rossard, plays for Asseco Resovia.
After finishing 10-20 in 2017/18, Szczecin netted a new master sponsor, changed back to its 80’s name, and set its eyes on setting up a super-team. It should have no problem contending for the title next season. To follow the team’s busy off-season, click the links below:
