When three-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings founded the p1440 beach volleyball tour/concert series and health and wellness event, she had hopes for an international event featuring the best in the world. In the end, two international teams – Canada’s Heather Bansley/Brandie Wilkerson and Latvia’s Aleksandrs Samoilovs/Martins Plavins won the inaugural titles in San Jose on Sunday.
The first day of the first P1440 beach volleyball tournament is in the books, and host Kerri Walsh Jennings isn’t letting hosting duties interfere with her performance.
The on-court competition field is set, the live musical lineup is ready to take the stage and the health, wellness, training and activity slate is packed with opportunities for engagement at the San Jose Invitational, the opening stop on three-time Olympian Kerri Walsh Jennings’ P1440 Tour.
Sunday’s semifinals field is set for the King of the Court Huntington Beach with 10 teams per gender remaining, including teams from six countries on the men’s side, and duos from five countries on the women’s side.
The final stop on the King of the Court Crown Series tour hits Huntington Beach, California on Saturday with 20 men’s and 20 women’s teams competing.
Fort Lauderdale, Florida, will be the first stop on the FIVB Beach Major Series tour for the second straight year.
