France Edges Canada in 5, Brazil Falls in Five Sets in Varna
Canada opted not to play many of its starters and came up just short in a five-setter against first place France, which won its sixth straight VNL match. Thirty-three errors proved to be too much to overcome as Brazil fought valiantly before falling to Bulgaria in five sets for the team’s third-straight loss in Varna.
France Rolls Over Brazil 3-0; Bulgaria Shocks Canada in Sweep
Just one day after a shocking defeat at the hands of No. 6 Canada, top ranked Brazil stumbled again on Saturday, falling to No. 9 France via sweep. Boyan Yordanov accounted for half of No. 14 Bulgaria’s 40 kills in a surprise sweep of No. 6 Canada.

Brazil put down 21 more kills in the match, including 15 by Wallace DeSouza in a rout of China on Sunday to stay atop the VNL standings. Russia picked up its second straight home victory, besting Iran in every scoring category, while Dmitriy Muserskiy scored a match-high 24 points.
