In what most american fans hope won’t be a preview of today’s USAV Cup game, Team USA lost to Brazil 3-1 (23-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-16) behind Fernada Tomé’s 22 points. Team USA took the first set, but simply didn’t had what it takes to beat Brazil’s Superliga filled roster, that is, experienced professional players in its roster.
VolleyMob All-America third team and AVCA All-American Honorable Mention, Krystal Rivers continued her juggernaut offensive performance in the tournament (Remember her 40 point game here), though, with 23 points in the losing effort. She ends her trip to Taipei as the tournaments highest scorer by a very large margin: 141 points to Piia Korhonen‘s 118 points. No player in the teams that are yet to play in the gold or bronze medal matches have any chances of catching up to her.
She completed her collegiate eligibility last fall. Last year she ranked 2nd in the NCAA in kills per set (5.88), points (803.5) and total kills (705). She’s preparing to start her pro career at Beziers in France alongside fellow All-American Amber Rolfzen.
Today, we had the definition of classification of 5th through 16th place. Below, you will find updated brackets and recaps from all of the day’s action.
