After reigning as the No. 1 team in the land beginning with the Week 6 poll, the UCLA beach volleyball team caps the season in the same position, continuing a five poll reign atop of the AVCA Beach Volleyball listings. The Bruins bested Florida State 3-1 for the NCAA title on Sunday.
The Seminoles jumped from No. 7 to No. 2 in the final poll after the runner-up finish. It tied for FSU’s best ever ranking and marked the program’s largest jump in the rankings during a season.
Hawaii, which was the final team to fall in the loser’s bracket of the NCAA Tournament with a 3-2 result against UCLA, remained at No. 3, ending the season at 37-5.
Pepperdine, which made a day 2 exit from the NCAAs after falling to Hawaii and USC, dropped two spots to No. 4. The Women of Troy stood pat at No. 5, while LSU climbed two positions to No. 6. Long Beach State slipped one spot to No. 7, while South Carolina and Florida International moved to No. 8 and 9 after their inclusion in the NCAA field.
To make room for all of the movement, Cal Poly plunged from No. 4 to No. 10. The Mustangs finished the season at 27-7, the best record in program history, after falling in the Big West Tournament and being left out of the NCAA field.
