2017 FIVB VOLLEYBALL MEN’S CLUB WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Zenit Kazan opened up Club Worlds with a three-set win while their day two opponent, Shanghai VB fell at the hands of PGE Skra Belchatow in straight sets.

Zenit Kazan rolled straight through their opening round match against Bolivar. They led in all important categories throughout the match – kills (39-26), blocks (12-5) and aces (5-1). Maxim Mikhaylov led the team with 18 points while Alexey Samoylenko followed with 14 and Wilfredo Leon with 13.

It was a rough opening match for Shanghai as they were downed 2-0, (25-18, 25-19, 25-21). They hung in the match but were unable to finish off the sets against a strong Polish squad. Both Shuhan Rao and Julien Lyneel posted 12 points in the loss for Shanghai.
