Big Ten: All 6 Home Teams Win, Northwestern Grabs 1st League Victory

All six home sides held court on Friday in the Big Ten, including upset wins by Indiana and Northwestern, who moved past Ohio State and Michigan State respectively. Illinois and Wisconsin each went the distance for wins over Michigan and Nebraska.

Virginia Tech, Louisville Go the Distance for ACC Wins

Serbia Rallies to Top Italy in 5 for First World Championships Title

What was already a history making showing for Serbia, got that much sweeter to the tune of a five-set comeback win over Italy and the nation’s first ever FIVB Women’s World Championships title. Serbia had never finished higher than third, meanwhile Italy claims its second ever medal following a gold in 2002.

Flint/Day, Brazilians Ana Patricia/Rebecca Move on to Vegas Final 8

The first two women’s quarterfinalists earned their spots, while the remaining six matches of Round 2 are slated to begin at noon ET Saturday. Americans Betsi Flint/Emily Day defeated two other Team USA pairs en route to the Final 8, while Brazilians Ana Patricia/Rebecca earned their spot with the Pool H title and a win over Japan.

Crabb/Gibb, Bourne/Crabb Make Men’s Quarters in Las Vegas

Teams from seven different countries make up the men’s quarterfinal field with top seeded Taylor Crabb/Jake Gibb and qualifiers Tri Bourne/Trevor Crabb highlighting the field. Both American pairs won their respective pools and claimed their spot in the quarters with tiebreak victories in Round 2.
