Brazil has won its third and final friendly against the Dutch 3-0 (25/16, 25/17, 25/10). Douglas Souza led the way with 17 points, while opposite Evandro Guerra and middle Eder Carbonera added 10 points each. Although it can hardly be considered grounds for optimism, given that the Netherlands is currently ranked 25th in the world, coach Renan Dal Zoto was satisfied:
“These friendlies were important for us to gain pace and see where we can adjust, what points we need to improve. We were able to impose a strong rhythm today, with few mistakes, putting pressure on the Netherlands in a very interesting way. We still want to adjust some things these days before the WCH. The crowd gave a lot of positive energy, too, it’s very good to bring that good feeling to the WCH.”
The team’s biggest stars, setter Bruninho and opposite Wallace Souza, were likewise very satisfied with the results:
“We played three great games. We did very well overall. Today we did not let them get in the game. We’re always looking to improve. We’re going to have some friendlies in Europe before the WCH, and we’re looking forward to the tournament.” – Wallace
“It’s a great emotion when we play in places that normally don’t receive games. You notice how much the public likes volleyball, how much they cheer for us. It was a sensational experience. Now we will concentrate to the maximum, go with everything to the WCH, which will be a war. But it was great to be able to play, give rhythm to all athletes and receive the energy of this wonderful audience.” – Bruninho
