Serbia will be a full force for the Final Six of the World League with the return of opposite Aleksandar Atanasijevic.
Atanasijevic competed in the first week of the World League posting 28 total points on 27 kills and one ace. The addition of Atanasijevic will provide a boost for the Serbian team that finished in third place in the overall standings of the World League. In the 2015 edition of the World League, Atanasijevic was named the Best Opposite at the tournament.
In his absence, Marko Ivovic and Uros Kovacevic had stepped up to help the Serbians to their Final Six run. Ivovic has posted 108 points on 89 kills, eight blocks and 11 aces while Kovacevic has added another 104 points on 88 kills, 11 blocks and five aces.
In 2016, Serbia took the World League title and will be looking to defend their title this season against some tough competition. Atansijevic has to sit out of the 2016 finals run due to an injury.
The Serbian squad started off the World League with a 5-1 record, but faltered slightly in the final week, going 1-2 after losing to Bulgaria and #2 Brazil. The third week dropped them from the second position to the third.
First up in the Final Six, the Serbians will take on the USA followed by France. Based on the results of all teams over the course of two matches and three days will determine which teams will go to the semifinals then finals.
