In an effort to provide its main stakeholders with an opportunity to come forward with proposals and ideas in order to improve its main club competition, the CEV held this week in Luxembourg a Champions League Forum under the slogan ‘Better is up to us.’ The event was attended by over 90 delegates representing clubs, national leagues, the FIVB, National Federations, media, sponsors and partners. The main topics of discussion were the competition’s sponsoring, format, broadcasting, promotion, and calendar. Here is what CEV‘s and FIVB’s bosses had to say of the event:
“Today we convened some sort of European Volleyball parliament in order to improve Europe’s most prestigious club competition. We decided that we would welcome any remarks, positive and negative, and we encouraged the attendees to have an open discussion in what was a truly historic forum gathering all key stakeholders in Volleyball. Our intention is to make something bigger out of this competition – much more than a Volleyball tournament, but rather an event that everyone wants to be a part of, promoting our top players so that they become global stars known also outside of the Volleyball family. We have to work together and act as a team as Volleyball, which is a team sport, requires, so that together we can think bigger and achieve something bigger for the good of the whole Volleyball family.” CEV’s President Aleksander Boricic
